Happy New Year!

New Year’s Day is actually probably my favorite holiday.  Everything’s quiet, there’s no pressure to run around and deal with extended family, no weeks of preparation.

But it’s a good holiday because, cheesy though it sounds, it’s a good time for reflection.  The reason I get so wrapped up in year-end listmaking and stuff is that I see so many things coming from so many different places that it’s good to step back and process sometimes. (Peripherally, I also make year-end best-of CDs and itunes playlists, which give me lots of pleasure well into the next year.)
