The Kanye verse of Run This Town is a lot better if you imagine that the Pope is singing it. (No homo!)

I don’t know if you know this, but for many years I was in a kinda-sorta band. There were two of us, we didn’t practice, didn’t really have any instruments to play, didn’t play out even once, and our music–an ungodly-ish mix of tape recorder hiss and midi trumpets–was frankly very challenging on the ears.

Today:
well hung celebrities
can someone tell me a hookers number
huge karaoke hits of the 90′s
pink semi colon
matthew barney gay
Yesterday:
gabe saporta belly
civil war beards
biggest schlong
leather daddy
the grouch rapper
bitchidence suzie
willem defoe’s dick

I went Christmas shopping at the mall yesterday; it was almost completely empty, which was a pleasant surprise. I only got one gift, though. And I bought Expose’s What You Don’t Know album for myself, because it was $2.99. I didn’t expect to remember as many songs from it as I do; I also forgot how much I like Tell Me Why.
I’ve got family obligations for the next couple of days, and my boyfriend’s leaving town for Christmas tomorrow, so posting will probablyt continue to be light until next week.
My grandmother died this morning, so I’ll likely be keeping computer time to a minimum over the next few days. Between that and the foot of snow we’re supposed to be getting, I’m also canceling tomorrow’s Pop Chart.
My grandmother was a very nice lady; she had been pretty sick for a long time, though, and for the last couple of months she basically stopped eating. At one point she was put in a nursing home, but she had to move into my aunt’s house because she refused to eat anything at the home. The last time I saw her, which was at the nursing home, she was down to 73 pounds. Under the hospital bed covers it looked like she didn’t have any legs. The doctors gave her two months or less to live, and that was two months ago. So we knew it was coming. It’s still sad, though…

My list of the decade’s thirty most wrongfully neglected albums is up now at the Daily Dose, here, here and here.
In case you were wondering what I played last night… Somebody got reeeeeeeally excited about the first song, and then I think I completely disappointed him with every single song after that.

Had a fun and excellent time at the party last night, although I hit the gin a little hard and today my head’s a little bit hurty. Harriet Wheeler’s helping, though.

Tomorrow marks the seventh annual International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, celebrated every year on December 17th; sex workers and their supporters, many carrying red umbrellas, will be holding vigils and demonstrations across the world to honor those who have been assaulted or, in too many cases, who have died during the past year.
The annual event began in 2003 as a memorial for the four Seattle prostitutes murdered by Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer; in his guilty plea, he told the court that he targeted prostitutes specifically because he knew no one would notice that they were missing.
From the national chapter of the Sex Workers Outreach Project:

Tonight the Providence blogosphere will be turning into the Providence blogosnowglobe as the Daily Dose and four other blogs celebrate the holidays. I’ll be guest DJ-ing along with Eric and Kevin and between the three of us we’ll have something for everyone. Including the early-to-bed types, since this shindig commences at 8.
The holiday magic happens at the 201, located on festive Westminster Street in merry downtown Providence, in the vicinity of the jolly Dress Barn and the cockle-warming Design Within Reach. Like I said it starts at 8 and runs until 1. Pizza will also probably be involved, because nothing says Yuletide cheer like a pizza.
Also, rumor has it that some folks will be there celebrating the fact that a local boy made it onto the next season of Project Runway.
