“Bop Til You Drop” was the second single off the soundtrack to Hard To Hold, a movie made exclusively for fans of Australian heartthrob Rick Springfield. A #20 hit in the US, “Bop” was also the first music video made by David Fincher, the director who went on to make the films Se7en and Fight Club and, now, The Social Network. I can’t really speak to which parts of the video have anything to do with the film, because I have never seen it, although the imdb description (it gets a 4.1 rating from viewers) makes it sound like a very different movie than the video suggests:
Details the efforts of a pop-rock star (James Roberts / Rick Springfield) to win the love of a woman he meets in a car accident. None of the usual gambits work on this woman, who has never heard of him. Complications arise involving the ex-girlfriend Nicky, who is still in his band. Lots of Springfield tunes help the plot along.
Anyway, Fincher went on to make some really excellent videos before he made the jump to the big screen. Some highlights after the jump:

Okay, so this is basically the 2010 equivalent of a Golden Oldies Tour, but I want to go. I really really really really really want to go. Stevie B! Expose! Lisa Lisa, even if Cult Jam and Full Force and Bow-Legged Lou aren’t around! Lil Suzy! Lisette Melendez! One if not all of the original Cover Girls!
This is in three weeks and I’m worried I won’t be able to afford a ticket, particularly because the poster says that THIS CONCERT WILL SELL OUT. But it will be so good! I’m considering paying my rent late for this one.
After the jump, some video goodness (not that freestyle was generally well represented by videos.)
Staying in on Saturday night is the equivalent of starting a new job in a field I haven’t thought about since high school. I’m antsy and nervous and afraid I’m not doing it right.
But I just uploaded a lot of photos from my Lady Gaga road trip, I drank a couple of beers*, and I listened to a lot of music. For whatever reason, I’m finding myself particularly charmed Divinyls’ 1988 power ballad “Punxsie” (which is the least punksy song ever, if there was any doubt.) Yes, it’s as horribly over-produced as every other ballad from 1988, but it’s got a warm charm and, of course, there’s Chrissy Amphlett’s voice. Divinyls may just be a one-and-a-half-hit wonder in the US, but in their native Australia they had hits for at least a decade, including some of my favorite pop singles of the 80′s like “Boys In Town,” “Science Fiction,” and the American rock hit “Pleasure And Pain.”
Soon I’ll head to bed. Tomorrow’s a full day of working on the magazine and event hosting and hopefully at least a little of tidying up the cradle of filth that is my apartment. After the jump, a couple more Divinyls videos:

The Woodhull Foundation has declared today National Sexual Freedom Day. Just forty-five minutes ago, they held a press conference and released a report, The State of Sexual Freedom In The US 2010. I’m in a bit of a rush now (blah blah blah) but check out this where is your line post, which points out all of the sex news that’s happened just this week alone.

This site turned 3 on Saturday and I’ve been so crazy/busy/crazybusy that I didn’t even get a chance to mention it until now. This site’s morphed a lot in that time–I was reeeeeeally bored when I started it–and while I don’t post as much as I used to I’m very glad to have picked up some readers along the way.
Every year I say I’m going to have some kind of party to celebrate the blog’s birthday and this year I don’t even think I’m going to pretend. So hopefully I’ll see you, at the sex calendar party or at the Headmaster launch (when that happens) or somewhere else along the way.

Added strippertweets and i deserve this and Kok Magazine, all of which are probably NSFW in one way or another. I also got rid of anything that hasn’t been updated in the past 60 days.
More soon.

Stay home and blog like an angst-ridden tween or head out to the bar for a nightcap? Wash my kitchen floor or go for a long walk? It’s midnight on Sunday and every option (including bed) seems equally dreary. I am already tired of this week.
[half hour later update: My cat, Lady Catterley, is being exceptionally cute tonight, and she has made it clear that she wants me to stay home petting her. So that is what I am doing. It is calming, if slightly dull.]
